Les Mis

I will never vote for Trump, for all the obvious reasons, but when I heard Mrs Clinton call his supporters "deplorable" the image above flashed into my imagination.  I was away from my desk until today, but I finally was able to spend time with Photoshop.  Can't help myself.  (And it is too hot today to work in the garden.)

I was not surprised, but I was disappointed, to find that Mr Trump's campaign is at least as perverted as I.  Click on this link to see how effectively they are appropriating the Les Miserables imagery and music.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes.

In the musical, Les Miserables, Monsieur Thénardier and his wife provide villainous comic relief.  Trump and Clinton seem to be studying for the roles.

I just came home from a trip to Europe.  A waiter in Amsterdam, when asked what he thought of Trump, said that Trump was a fool and Clinton was a liar and the there was no reason to choose one rather than another.  A Swiss tourist told a joke:  If both Trump and Clinton fall into a river and cannot swim, who is saved?  The answer is, "America."  Friends in Strasburg asked how it is that we have two such flawed people running for president.

I still expect Mrs Clinton to win at least 45 states, probably 48.  Current polls show a close race, but I don't believe them.  Lots of people who are really going to vote for Mrs Clinton are probably ashamed to say so, whereas Trump supporters tend to be unashamed and outspoken.

I am apprehensive about the upcomming debates.

  1. I am in awe that you have the time, energy and talent to follow this soap opera so well. Always enjoy your "different" point of view. Time will tell if you prediction of 45-48 states is accurate - personally I suspect a closer race but with a resounding Clinton victory. You need to get busy developing support for your idea of amnesty for both candidates.
